My first really difficult cake....
Chris' 24th birthday cake.
Kat and I discussed it and we decided on an Astro Boy cake. It was Chris' favorite show growing up and it was a challenge for me.
And so it began.
Finding the perfect picture to copy off of to create the cake. Finding enough table space to be able to make it....(thanks Tara and Bobby!)
It was for Chris' surprise birthday party last Feb 13th.
For those of you that know me well, Thursdays are my Kurczewski days. I go to visit with Tara, Bobby and Zack. We have dinner and we watch our usual line up of shows. Survivor, Grey's and Private Practice. So, why should this Thursday be any different?
Armed with my cake board, cake mixes, and my weight in icing sugar and butter, I made my way to Tara's.
This was definitely a challenging cake to make, but with Zack cheering me on (I think that he was just hanging out for the left over cake bits) and Tara willing to pause the shows and come to my aide when I hollered, I was able to bang it out.
And when we got the cake to Kat and Chris' on the Friday night for the party, everyone was so impressed with it.
Chris was so surprised and couldn't believe that I spent that much time on something for him.
I loved this one. I think he looks awesome.
