As we go on, we remember, all the times we, had together.
As our lives change, come whatever, we will still be, friends forever.
I made these grad hat cupcakes for my friend Steven's (Shteeeef's) graduation from University.
The bottom is a vanilla cupcake. The square piece on top is a shortbread cookie held on with some butter cream icing. I hand made the tassels out of fondant that I dyed to match the colour of the butter cream icing.
There were about 20 of us that got all dressed up and had a fantastic meal at the Fort Garry Hotel for the event. We danced the night away and even did a B-E-E-R-R-U-N in the wee hours after we shut down the event. The dj actually had to kick us out. Good times were had, memories were made, and the cupcakes were enjoyed.

Giant Cupcakes?
I feel like I've eaten a piece of the shrinking cake from Alice in Wonderland.
I made this giant cupcake cake for Kat's birthday.
I used pre-made chocolate rolls for the lines on the papers and some spray colour for the frosting. The cake was chocolate with a regular butter cream icing in between the layers, as well as covering the entire cake.
It's not my greatest piece, but it was last minute and I was dog/house sitting at the time, so I had to use the resources that I had with me.

Here fishy, fishy, fishy
Ok Burt!
Kristi and I made these cupcakes for a friend of hers birthday.
We used confetti cake, tinted the icing blue for the water. We were also able to find gummy rocks and sharks and used some coloured gel icing for the weeds and bubbles.
They were very well received at his surprise birthday party :)

Gloves off, stick down, no warning, he challenged the Chiefs!
Grierson to the net, pass from Lecuyer, he shoots, he scores!!
This is the 2nd cake that I made for Evan and Eric's combined birthdays.
I decided to just make a normal 2-layer sheet cake this time and cover it in white fondant. I painted on the lines with icing dye and made little nets out of tooth picks and a rubberised jar opener.
The hockey player is made out of gum paste. Evan wears number 11 and his favorite team is the Canucks, so I made the player look like Evan as if he were playing for them. He was all separate pieces molded and then attached using toothpicks.
It was a chocolate cake with buttercream icing separating the layers.

Hello cake followers,
I can't believe it has been over a year since I added anything to my blog. Where has the time gone? I must appologize for neglecting all of you.
I am updating my posts and adding new ones over the next little while and will try to stay on top of it as much as I can from now on.

And the lion fell in love with the lamb...
What a stupid lamb.
What a sick, masochistic lion.
This cake is the 2nd cake that I made for Dan's daughter for her birthday. She is a huge Twilight fan and is Team Edward all the way.
For this cake I wanted to make something different than the first Twilight cake that Ian and I made for Elissa's birthday. So, I set out to Google "Twilight Cakes". I saw a few different ideas and variations of this one and decided I would try my hand at some gum paste figures.
I made a chocolate cake with chocolate truffle filling and covered it in white fondant. Then, after dying the fondant (and my hands for the next 3 days) black, I started cutting out squares using my cookie cutters that I just purchased for my cake decoration collection and placed them on half of the cake in a chess board pattern.
I then started on the gum paste...it was soooo sticky and the whole time that I was making it, I thought to myself, I am never doing this again! Once the gum paste was ready, it was time to make the chess piece, the apple, the red ribbon and the flower petals. I made one key thing from the cover of each of the 4 books.
To make the flour petals, I made a rough leaf shape and then I let it dry over half of the lid of a can of Pam. Then, when they were dry, I painted the red lines onto them and made them look like petals. The chess piece, the apple and the ribbon were relatively easy, it was just the red fingers that were not easily washed.
I then used my word press and wrote out "Twilight" on the front of the cake and painted it red.
Sam loved her cake. She came and picked it up with Dan and was super excited to show everyone. I also ended up giving her an Edward figure that I got when I bought New Moon. I was going to try and encorporate it into the cake somehow, but went a different way.
I absolutely loved this cake when it was finished :D
