The idea for this cake came when Fiona (Stephen's girlfriend) and I decided back in November that we were going to throw Stephen a Surprise 30th birthday party.
And so the planning began...
Stephen had no idea that I would be in BC for his birthday let alone the plan that Fiona and I had. So, he started to plan his own party for the very same night! A few white lies here and a made up story or two there, and we managed to pull off the surprise and had a fantastic night. Friends from near and far were there to help him celebrate his turning 30.
For the cake I made 2 white cakes (cause Stephen {the weirdo} doesn't like chocolate cake) and filled them with chocolate truffle filling. Then I started cutting out the shape of an XBox.
I'm not gonna lie, it didn't come out anything like I wanted it to, I should have left the icing white instead of grey, but there's nothing that I can do about that now.
I also had to stuff it in the microwave on Stephen's actual birthday as he and Fiona came to pick me up for Bingo and I was literally just finishing it. So, the cake went in the microwave, the left over icing in the fridge (with the spoon still in it) and texts went to mom and dad asking them to make sure that they looked in the microwave before just tossing something in and hitting start. Good thing I had already cleaned the counter of my mess.
Everyone was very impressed with the cake and Stephen loved that it even had a power button.
All in all, it was and enjoyable one to make.

Wish I could have been there x
