This year, Chris was the lucky reciever of his 2nd birthday cake from me.

Kat and I decided that we should do a UFC Octagon for him this year as he is a bit of a UFC fan.

I set out to make the octagon. It looked more like a mis-shapen circle by the time I was finished and I had a few choice words for the 'fencing' that I used, but all in all, it looked great and Chris, along with all his buddies were quite impressed.

I made a chocolate cake with buttercream filling and covered it in blue grey fondant. The colour on the fondant turned out pretty much exactly the same colour as the actual mat. For the 'fencing' I used the rubber jar grippers that you can get at the dollar store, I cut them in half and then attached them all together with toothpicks. In the centre I put CMD 25 as those are Chris' initials and age.

Kat also picked up a fighter action figure and we placed him on the top of the cake as well.

One of the guys at the party was so impressed with my skills he was talking to me about all the things that he has seen on Cake Boss and Ace Of Cakes (his 2 favorite shows hehe!)
